MINISTER FOR ROADS AND HIGHWAYS INSPECTS ROADS UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN SAVANNAH REGION

Sector Minister, Hon. Amoaku Attah today (10th June 2020) paid a working visit to Savannah region to ascertain progress on ongoing road projects.

The year 2020 has been prioritised by government as the year of roads and resolved on getting a greater percentage of roads upgraded, opened and tarred.

The 71Km upgrading of Salaga – Bimbilla road was his first point of call. Mr. Benjamin Attah the resident engineer of the Messrs New Modern World Construction Ltd welcomed the team and gave an overview report on the project.

According to him, the project commenced on the 29th of July 2019 and expected to be completed in 42 months (28th January 2023). Their scope of work among others include, setting out of the road alignment and ancillary works, clearing and preparation of the site, earthworks, construction of pipe culvert and reinforced concrete box culvert etc. In conclusion Mr. Benjamin indicated that 45% of the work has been completed and he is convinced that the road will be ready before the stipulated date.

Hon. Amoaku Attah commended the contractor for the work done so far but also cautioned them never to compromise on quality because Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu Addos government will never pay any contractor for work that is below standard.

The minister was also overwhelmed by the progress of work on the 14.85 Km township roads in Salaga after briefly stopping by.

The minister and his entourage drove through the Salaga – Ekumdipe – Kpandai road where Jiang XI Nonferrous Engineering & Construction company Ltd is steadily progressing with work. The said project is expected to entirely take shape by 5th August 2021.
Hon. Amoaku Attah folded up at the 100 Km Bunjai – Fufulso critical road being facilitated by Mawums construction Ltd.

The Savannah Regional minister Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah, The Northern Regional minister Hon. Salifu Saed, The Deputy Savannah Regional minister Hon. Samuel Yeyu Tika, Some staff of the ministry and some Regional party executives were part of the road ministers entourage.
