On Monday 15th November 2021, the regional Coordinating director Mr. Yaw Adu Asamoah and some other heads of departments and agencies received students from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and staff college who basically were on a study tour.
On behalf of the Savannah regional minister, Mr. Yaw Adu Asamoah welcomed the team and again assured to give them the required support that in essence will make their visit fruitful.
Brigadier Genera Abass Seidu, in a brief address thanked leadership of the region for the warm reception and also ceased the opportunity to explain the purpose of the tour.
According to Brigadier General, it is a tradition at the college that, prior to every graduation, students embark on a study tour to get themselves abreast with the Ghanaian environment and later put together their findings based on some key thematic areas.
Their theme for this year focused on how collaboration between traditional authorities and the local Assemblies can foster development. In effect students after this tour are expected to bring to bear their findings and equally make recommendations that are capable of strengthening that collaboration.
Mr. Samuel Larbi took them through a vivid presentation on Savannah Region and events at the Regional Coordinating Council. Some other heads of departments and agencies also took them through activities of their offices over the years. The selected departments were; Social welfare, Regional Agric department and the Regional Health Directorate.
After a successful day, they requested to visit some other Districts within the region and that includes Central Gonja , North Gonja, Sawla Tuna Kalba, Bole and the host, West Gonja Municipal.
Finally on Friday 19th November 2021 they were led again by the Regional Coordinating director to the Jakpa palace where they were taken through the chieftaincy structure of the Gonja Kingdom and some other very important traditions of Gonjalanders.
