The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Yussif Sulemana together with Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribi have today cut sod for the construction of a 2-storey ultramodern office complex for the Savannah Regional Lands Commission in Damongo.
In a brief ceremony, Hon. Yussif Sulemana underscored the importance of the Lands commission and its operations in the economic development of Ghana. He emphasized the need for the commission to diligently discharge it’s mandate of effectively managing lands of Ghana through proper demarcations and registration of lands to avert issues of land litigations and the conflicts associated with them.
Hon. Yussif Sulemana accentuated the correlation between good land management and collateral security as it can aid businesses to access loans for their financial activities, helping to expand the economy and create employment. He further elaborated on strenuous efforts by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah to spearhead the digitization of the Land Administration System to help resolve and seal the loopholes and challenges in the land administration system of Ghana.
Hon. Sulemana cautioned the contractor against shoddy work and also, called for the timely completion of the project.
Hon. Salisu Bi-Awuribi while delivering his address, expressed his pride and elation for the project which is the first of 12 to be constructed across the country. He noted the significance of the office complex in Damongo and Savannah Region as a whole as the region occupies the largest landmass of the country.
Hon. Bi-Awuribi advocated the establishment of district offices for the Lands Commission to ease the stress of citizens having to travel long distances to the regional capital for transactions. He also entreated the Commission to capitalize on technology to advance their operations to enhance efficiency.
The project which is being executed by CK Engineering Services, is expected to be completed within 12 months.

Genevieve Sablah ( Monitoring & Evaluation, Lands Commission), Prosper Formite (ROU- Lands Commission), Mr. Gali (PMT-Lands Commission), staff of the Savannah Regional Lands Commission, Executives of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), the media and citizens near and afar.
