The Hon. Minister for Roads and High Ways; Mr. Akwesi Amoako Atta was at Buipe; the capital of the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region to inspect progress of maintenance works over parts of the bridge over the Black Volta. He lamented that it was so unfortunate the rain has been causing havoc in the five (5) Northern Regions that nobody has any control over. He was however quick to state that it takes a responsible Government like the Government led by H/E Nana Akufo Addo to respond as quickly as was happening irrespective of the frequency of the incidents. This is part of the fixing the country agenda, he added.
The Minister, who was ably flanged by the Hon. Savannah Regional Minister, the chief director of the ministry, the Savannah Regional Coordinating Director among others was full of praise for the GQMI construction company for their swift response to the call to put that portion of the road back in shape.
He passionately appealed to Mr. Roberto Viviani; the chief engineer to consider working in the night as much as possible to enable him beat the four (4) week completion deadline. Precautionarily, the Minister ordered the closer of the toll booth at the bridge for the period of the construction to pave way for free flow of traffic for the safety of the traveling public, the collectors and the contractors. He re-echoed that three (3) new bridges would be constructed over the White and Black Voltas including the Daboya stretch of the White Volta by the end of the tenure of H/E Nana Akufo Addo.
The visit was winded off by a brief courtesy call on the Buipe Wura.
